Charles Smythies

The Rt Rev Charles Alan Smythies, DD [1] (1844–1894) was a Colonial Bishop in the second half of the Nineteenth Century.[2]

Charles Alan Smythies was born in Colchester,[3] educated at Trinity College, Cambridge,[4] and ordained in 1869. His first post was a curacy in Great Marlow after which he was Vicar of Roath. He was consecrated Bishop of Nyasaland in St Paul's Cathedral on 30 November 1883 and died on 7 May 1894.[5]
